You’re not alone if Korean Beauty is difficult to navigate. Between the lost in translation nuances, the ephemeral terminology, and exhaustive 7-10 step methods, the messaging can get overwhelming. This is a shame because there are some real gems about there. In particular, we’ve been singing the praises for BLITHE’s Vital Treatment Pulp Essence – 8 Nourishing Beans. The intensely colored almost sap-like fluid just looked like one of those products that would be magic on the skin and every person who has tried it here has raved about it.
What is it?
“A new take on essences, this ‘pulp’ Vital Treatment Pulp Essence – 8 Nourishing Beans features beads of vitamin E suspended in a bouncy essence featuring eight bean extracts to hydrate and brighten skin.
Just like how your morning glass of OJ is healthier when it has pulp in it, this essence, with its added ‘pulp,’ is a tall glass of hydration and nutrition for the skin. The peptides in the base essence work in harmony with the bursting beads of vitamin E to provide an instant, youthful inner glow.” – from Glow Recipe
A bit of a refresher on essences:
“While a fairly new category of products in the US, the treatment essence has carved out space in Asia almost two decades ago. Treatment essences occupy an in-between role in a skincare routine as it resides somewhere between a toner and a true essence in texture and in the routine order. A toner balances skin in a thin formulation while a true essence is concentrated and thicker, requiring a dropper. Treatment essences are a happy middle as they act as a toner wherein it softens and preps skin for the next step, yet it also provides targeted treatment for your specific concerns like a true essence.”

Glow Recipe is known for curating relatively natural, gentle, innovative (not to mention – quirky), hydrating, complexion-enhancing products and we think there is no product that better epitomizes the DNA of Glow Recipe than the BLITHE Vital Treatment Pulp Essence – 8 Nourishing Beans. It’s immediately eye-catching, the ingredients are truly interesting (over 80% of the concentration of the fluid is pure bean extract!), and the hydration – wow, does it deliver!
The 80% concentration of bean extracts, including soybeans and kidney beans, give this essence a mega-load of antioxidants and amino acid proteins that are the building blocks of skin. It’s so nutritionally-rich that the pulp of the whole plant (seeds and beans) are actually suspended in the viscous liquid. There are also beads of suspended antioxidant, emollient Vitamin E capsules that melt into skin to combat free radicals while nourishing the complexion.
There are also the best in class actives that even Western skincare recognizes such as hyaluronic acid, the undisputed hydration powerhouse and two types of peptides, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide – which is recognized as a retinol alternative in stimulating collagen production and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory.
The texture of this treatment essence is heavier than most other toners, and even many hydrating serums. This essence feels like it really stays and wraps the skin in hydration. The BLITHE Vital Treatment Pulp Essence, more than any essence we’ve tried, delivers on giving skin that plumped, glass skin appearance. It even seems to firm and brighten skin, and similar feedback on Sephora reviews confirms these anti-aging benefits as well.
We’d recommend BLITHE Vital Treatment Pulp Essence for its universal benefits for any skin type, superior hydration, mega-dosage of whole plant extracts, and proven anti-aging actives. The best part is that a 150ml bottle of this pulp essence costs just $46, which we would not think twice about purchasing again especially given our approximation that a full bottle can easily last 8-10 months.
P.S. BLITHE also has two other treatment essences (neither contains any pulp), and we’ve tried all of them. The Vital Treatment Pulp Essence was the last one we tried and is hands down our favorite.
