Is there a better makeup brand?
Admittedly, I’m much more of a skin care girl, than a makeup girl. But for as long as I’ve been in beauty, Giorgio Armani’s makeup products have always been the ‘ultimate’ brand. While I usually don’t take beauty endeavors by fashion brands too seriously, something kicked into place in the late aughts when brands like YSL, Dior, and Giorgio Armani were just going strength to strength in the luxury beauty space.
Where YSL was known for their eyeliner, Dior for their lips, if one wanted a perfect complexion, they went to Giorgio Armani. Their foundations inspire a dedicated following, such that the discontinuation of a range prompted Kim Kardashian herself to publicly tweet the brand in a bid to bring it back, while other celebrities and makeup artists are known to stockpile shades that are being sunset.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Blush: What to know
And so when Giorgio Armani launched a blush in their Luminous Silk range, known for lightweight, second-skin feel, with buildable coverage: I had to try them. I know what some of you are thinking: is this even green/clean? Nope. But it is a product I actually use, because where I’m more discerning of the ingredients list of my skin care products, I look at makeup such as this as performance. I don’t wear them daily, and they don’t factor into my wellness in any meaningful way, because I really just dabble and enjoy them for an event, or special occasion. And therefore, what matters to me here is the performance aspect: how vividly the colors pop, the quality of the blush, the wear, the versatility of the coverage.
For all those things, I found Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Blush to outshine other blushes I’ve used, especially in the ease, and simplicity of application for incredible payoff. It goes on subtle, and subdued, yet can be easily built upon for a more noticeable pop of color. However, they’re consciously restrained to never veer on the wrong side of flashy.
Thoughts
The blushes I got are:
11 “in love”, a warm nude that imparts a nice sun kissed effect that is half rosy blush, half subtle bronzer. I wore this for a slight sculpted glow up that remained on the subtle side. It goes well whether I’m doing a full on make-up look, or if I just want to do two swipes, and go out the door.
61 “desire”, inspired by a raspberry, however I prefer to think of it as an ambient skin-flush glow. I wore this more when I was looking for a pop of color, and had a more made-up look in mind.
Both blush colors I tried delivered a soft, natural finish. And I noticed that they each bring out my skin’s own corresponding tones giving a very natural rosy glow. The blush is very finely milled, and the powder provides lasting medium coverage, that can be deepened easily without adding weight. The blush is never cakey, doesn’t accentuate any imperfections, nor make the skin oilier/drier. It really is just a lovely pop of color.
Final thoughts
For me, Giorgio Armani’s Luminous Silk Blush predictably offered a beautiful experience with the perfect light texture, natural hits of color, and great performance. Perhaps to those who require their make-up be as clean as their skincare, this may never be under your consideration, but I absolutely love them.

Layer the blush over: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
My favorite application for foundation/blush: RMS Beauty Skin2Skin Beauty Sponge (very similar to Sephora’s top selling dual egg sponge, but with a premium material, custom cut grooves for added precision, at only $15 compared to $12 for Sephora’s own)
